TEACHING

I am an Israeli contemporary dance teacher, dancer/performer, based in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

My classes are very much focused on building strength and versatility through different dynamics of moving and flow of movement. I was brought up on the traditional Modern technique of Martha Graham and Ballet, and received classes in the Cunningham, Limon and Horton techniques. The essence of these Modern techniques are the base to my teaching, and I have developed my language and teaching method with much influence from them ….and yet I have felt the need to focus on a contemporary physicality, which also includes a more athletic dynamic, flow, the use of the floor in transferring weight with all body parts and on all levels, meaning: floor, standing and the in-between floor and standing, falling and quick transition from floor to standing and vice versa.

I begin my classes with floor work, which include: stretches, spine work, transfer of weight and moving combinations on the floor. I believe that the body has to learn to use the floor in order to, later, stand and be efficient in moving quickly on all height levels. My vocabulary is: lengthening, releasing the weight, dropping, together with the use of: curve, high release, spiral, twist, and elementary positions and movements from ballet, such as: plies, tandu, batement…

With standing, my work combines leg and foot work with body- curves, high release, tilt, leans, spiral and twists.

Flow of movement and musicality are very important elements in my work, understanding dynamics of all kinds, and qualities with the very strong element of “ground”. In my dance sequences all level of height are used and explored in movement. The dancer is challenged technically, physically, but is also given space to use the tools that were learnt for his/hers   personal artistry.

Play Ground / Ground Play

“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.”

C. G. Jung

We invite dancers, actors, artists from any performing field to enrich their creative skills and discover new ways of research; to explore and enjoy our play-ground.

Our aim is to combine between shape, content and meaning. Projecting our stories through the moving and acting body and translating the physical qualities into ideas, so each one can refine his or her virtuosity.

The workshop practice will   give assignments/exercises, beginning with a trigger, element that will be explored throughout the workshop individually,

or in small groups.
